Nine Mile, Saint Ann, Jamaica. That's where my story begins. Sitting with my grandmother, Cedella Marley-Booker, pointing at everything around me and asking 'Grandma, what's that?'
Without her, I wouldn't have known my Jamaican roots. Without her patience and pride, I wouldn't have known where I came from.
I'm Princess Booker. Author, Grammy-nominated A&R and granddaughter of Cedella Marley-Booker. I grew up not seeing myself in books. No little girl who looked like me. No Caribbean grandmothers. No Nine Mile.
So I wrote the books I needed as a child.
Nine Mile Babies is for every little Black girl and boy who deserves to open a book and finally see themselves. Their culture, their heritage, their grandma. Staring back at them with pride.
This is their legacy. Give them the books.
